Digital Capture
The fidelity of the prints we make from the capture of your original art is totally dependent on the quality of the capture process from our BetterLight scan back. It’s not just a question of obtaining a large enough file size for the print you want.
It’s also a question of having superior color accuracy, tonal control, dynamic range, and rendering of fine detail. All these qualities combine in the Better Light in making a faithful fine art print from your original art.
To get this level of control over the capture, we illuminate your artwork with Northlight High Intensity Discharge lights (HID), which give off no damaging heat or UV light. The quality of the light is perfectly matched to the Better Light camera back. A key factor in capturing your artwork faithfully is our use of specialized software to digitally smooth out the light so there is no variation in light output. Using another proprietary software, we ensure that focus is tack sharp on all four corners of your art.
If your original art is done in oil or Acrylic and has raised brush strokes, we can capture those strokes by using differential lighting to enhance the shadows and brightness. The effect in the final print can be astounding, creating a three dimensional look that has a pronounced effect on the viewer. Check out our Zoomify page to see for yourself.
Our capture specialist has an intuitive command of the techniques and settings of the equipment and makes decisions with an artful eye for how the capture will make a faithful print of the original art. In fact, almost all of the quality of our fine art prints is derived from the capture process itself.
As always, Light Source offers an excellent price point for our digital captures, without cutting corners. We always have your best interests in mind.
