My recent San Francisco art gallery exhibition of twenty-five 30×40 and 16×20 inch presentation prints, from my coverage of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery, Alabama civil rights march, owes much of its success to the remarkable state-of-the-art negative scanning and archival inkjet printing of Light Source. With less than two weeks until the exhibition debut, Sam Hoffman and his staff scanned my original negatives and extracted a dynamic range and tonal quality heretofore only approached by time-consuming conventional printing. Light Source’s Heidelberg “wet” scanning saved many hours of Photoshop cleanup, from 45 years of accumulated negative micro-scratches. The resulting, exquisite fine art prints have more than met my high standards. The images, especially those of Martin Luther King and Joan Baez, now breathe a new life. My hat is off to this expert team!
