Scanning
LightSource Raw scans are the perfect scan for someone who is proficient at basic image manipulation in Photoshop. We set the white and black point for the scan but do none of the spotting and levels correction that we do in our Corrected scans. You save about 30% with Raw over Corrected Scans.
Corrected scans are a final product and completely levels and curves optimized and spotted. Note that when it comes time to print, all our corrected scans still need adjustments in order to print optimally on your specific paper or canvas at LightSource.

Our prices are based on printing directly from your file. For any image manipulation or enhancement, we charge $100/hr in quarter hour increments of $25. If you need very minor levels, contrast or brightness changes, a minimum charge of $15 applies.

Digital Capture
LightSource offers extremely high resolution digital capture of your original artwork. We use a BetterLight digital scan back which is universally recognized by museums and art galleries as having the best image quality of any capture device currently available, and a must for creating fine art prints at LightSource. With a capture potential of 500MB, our scan back can capture original art up to 50” X 70”.
The fidelity of the prints we make from the capture of your original art is totally dependent on the quality of the capture process from our BetterLight scan back. It’s not just a question of obtaining a large enough file size for the print you want. It’s also having superior color accuracy, tonal control, dynamic range, and rendering of fine detail. All these qualities combine in the BetterLight to make a faithful fine art print from your original art.
On oil paintings, we can enhance the lighting to accentuate the brush strokes in the capture to make for life like interpretation of your original.
We charge by the longest dimension of your original art. There’s no charge for a CD or DVD burn of the file.
